What does Kaliru mean?
Şanlıurfa, doing honours to lots of civilizations, had been referred various names throughout history. Each civilization has deemed this unique city worthy of a name through its own eyes in the era it was in the ascendant. Hellenes who put down roots in Şanlıurfa, named here as ‘Edessa’, meaning ‘watery’. ‘Kaliruha’, meaning ‘drinking fountain with beautiful water’ is also another one of the names which were used for Şanlıurfa in that era. Both of two names were used in Şanlıurfa’s Roman throne era. As Kaliru Tourism, we also got inspiration for our name from the history of this ancient, and prosperous city.
